How can we assist you today?

Can I withdraw funds from the account?

Withdrawals on the account are restricted to one every quarter. If the account goes below the threshhold of Kes. 100,000, you will earn an interest of 4% if the  number of quarterly withdrawals are more than 1. 

Similarly, USD, GBP and EUR accounts will earn 3% p.a on balances below $1,000, 2.5% p.a. on balances below £1,000 and 2% p.a. on balances below €1,000 respectively.

Can I view the account balance and access statements online or via mobile banking?

SBM Bank will provide you with free monthly e-statements to your email to be able to track account balances.  You can call your account manager at the branch or SBM contact center to request for account balance for ad hoc  requests. 

Does the interest earned attract withholding tax?

Yes, a withholding tax of 15% is applicable to the interest earned.

Can I borrow against my savings?

Yes, you may borrow against your savings. The amount will however be lien marked and will be inaccessible until  you clear your loan. 

Will the Pebble Savings account have access to digital and branchless banking channels such as internet banking, mobile banking and debit cards?

To encourage a saving culture, we have restricted the account from access to all digital and card channels.  Withdrawals will be done through the branch. No debit card is issued to this account.

Can I continue operating the account past the age of 18?

Pebble Savings Account is ideal for customers below 18 Years. Customers above 18 years to 25 years are  encouraged to open the Student Account, which has unique features and benefits specifically for students.

How do I add my child to the Busara Family banking app?

Parents will log into Mfukoni mobile app, select Family Banking banner on the home page, parents will be required to  select one parent account that will be used for Family banking. The parent family home page will be activated, and parents will tap on Add Child menu, enter your child’s Pebble Account details, accept terms and conditions and generate and  share a unique QR code for the child to use to enroll by scanning. 

Can a parent add multiple children?

Yes. You can add multiple as many children provided, each child has their own Pebble Savings account at SBM Bank. 

Can a parent attempts to add details for a child who doesn’t belong to them?

You’ll receive an error message “Dependent account not found.” The app prevents linking of non-related or invalid Pebble  accounts. If the child is indeed yours, call SBM contact center for assistance and guidance.
